Tess Michaels is a 2015 graduate of the Life Sciences & Management dual-degree program at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She founded Soceana as a sophomore at Penn to pursue her passion for positive change and social impact. Through experiences volunteering in soup kitchens and homeless shelters, working with Autistic children, volunteering in hospitals, science out-reach programs, and co-founding the Red Cross Club in her high school, Tess realized the joy of generating social good. She is an accomplished science researcher and a leader who has served in several leadership positions, and the recipient of the Penn Alumni Award of Merit, Wharton Deans Award for Innovation, and the Benz Prize for excellence in life sciences. Tess was named as a Woman to Watch by the UN Foundation in 2014, and her contributions to biotechnology were recognized at the International BIO Convention in 2015.



Peter brings over 20 years of executive experience to Soceana. He has a demonstrated a passion for technology and innovation through a career with several Internet start-ups. Peter has been the lead technologist and executive at start-ups including Reality Online that serviced 65% of the out-sourced Internet brokerage industry and that provided real-time traffic information both in the US and around the world in support of leading location based service for providers such as Microsoft, Amazon and Yahoo. Peter remained the head of tech throughout its three big acquisitions by NAVTEQ, Reuters, and Nokia. Peter's expertise range across Web, Voice, and Mobile platforms. Peter is an invited member of Amazon's Consumer Advisory Board based on his successful and early adoption of the cloud. Peter lives in Greater Philadelphia and is active in the Penn entrepreneurship community.


Chief Scientist

Keith is a social entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience in launching software products. He worked at Accenture and i2 Technologies, and founded two social good companies. He serves on the board of several nonprofits including AidConnect, Social Venture Partners, and 121 Community Church. Keith holds M.S. in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University, and a B.S. in Economics from Vanderbilt University.


Member Secretary

Greg Hagin is the Member Secretary of Soceana Advisory Board. He has been a Corporate Vice President with CCS, the largest fundraising management and consulting firm to nonprofit organizations worldwide. Over the past 12 years he has provided philanthropic advice to the nonprofit sector and social impact space. He has partnered with international and national charities, faith based organizations, universities and colleges, hospitals, social service agencies, environmental groups, and arts institutions. He has counseled and directed organizations with financial targets ranging from $1 million to $5 billion. A graduate of Boston College (’01), he is currently completing his MBA (’16) for executives at The Wharton School, where he co-chairs the Social Impact Conference.


Principal Product Architect

Over the past eight years he has served in various technology, product and business intelligence roles at a division of Alliance Data Solutions, the global leader in marketing and loyalty software solutions. Previously he worked for seven years on decision support systems and business intelligence for various Fortune 1000 clients of Electronic Data Systems (now HP). He holds a degree in Management Information Systems from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX.


Principal Software Engineer

Jimmy is an award-winning software engineer who has excelled in software coding. He studied applied physics at the US Naval Academy for two years, before transferring to the University of Texas in Austin, TX where he earned a degree in Computational Physics with distinction. He is a pioneer in the field of quantum finance, and is the co-founder of Lytio.


Manager, Innovations and Integrations

Trevor is a social entrepreneur who has created businesses in technology, finance and fashion. He graduated with high honors from Plano West, and majored in economics at the University of North Texas. When he is not busy perfecting products or value propositions, he is posting low numbers on the golf course and raising his national ranking.
